26th December 2008 (aka Boxing Day) shall go down in history as a day of many firsts.
It was the first time limited edition Game DVD boxsets were on sale; the first time exclusive game premiums like MapleStory figurines were available in Singapore; the first time the MapleStory Zipangu Series of PPCs were released. And the first of an amazing auction with the highest bids posted for the most-wanted, unreleased, in-game items never seen before.
Read on and catch the excitement of the bazaar!
Early in the day and the Tropics Atrium at Suntec City Mall was awashed with a sea of people. All eager gamers hungry to get their hands on exclusive items for their game.
Players awaiting their turns to try the demo booths.
I spotted an older uncle taking up arms in the swift and deadly Sudden Attack. Guess you’re never too old to play. ![]()
There was a constant queue at the booth selling limited edition Game DVD boxsets. This was one of the most popular items because each boxset contained exclusive game premiums plus previously-unreleased in-game items.

For example, the CABAL boxset contains an in-game pet Worry Bear (permanent), MapleStory includes an extremely cute Kino mushroom pet (12 months) and the other game boxsets have other equally attractive in-game items. (If you missed getting the boxsets, you still have a final chance to order them online here. Do hurry though because I think they only have limited quantities left.)
Happy gamers with their bags of game goodies. Incidentally, the boy on the left is wearing the GetAmped drawstring bag (included with GetAmped DVD boxset) on his head. Wacky.
Booth for Blizzard promotions and A-Cash Prepaid Card bundle sales. The MapleStory Zipangu PPC series (set of 5 designs) was released for the first time and mini plushies were bundled in the promotion.
The Zipangu Collector’s Series of PPC held up for all to see.
Exclusive MapleStory and CABAL premiums (figurines, metal boxsets, key chains, notebooks, mugs, etc) on sale. This was the first time MapleStory figurines were available and they were selling like hotcakes. Unreleased and popular in-game items, at up to 50% off were also very attractive.
Free MapleStory posters were given out. I wonder if this has become a tradition for AsiaSoft, always giving out freebies and lucky draws at events.
A “Guess the number of Snacks” contest was sponsored by San Sesan. Players who signed up at our PlayPark booth or verified their PP account were eligible to enter this contest to guess the number of snacks packets in the transparent box. How many packets do you think there was? Scroll to the bottom to see if you’ve got the correct answer.
Throughout the event, gamers who accumulated a minimum of $168 in event receipts could try their luck in the Sure-Win Mystery Treasure Chest. Besides exclusive AsiaSoft premiums, a total of four Nokia handphones and three 32” LCD TVs, sponsored by Singtel, were given away to the lucky winners.
He won a Nokia classic handphone!
Finally, the AsiaSoft X’mas Auction was held in the evening. Ultra-rare in-game items were specially provided by the game developers. There were GrandChase Holy Runes, a CABAL Crystal Blue Astral Bike and the MapleStory Dragon Series Weapons with perfect or almost perfect stats that will grant you godly status.
Look at the crowd!
All the in-game items were one-of-a-kind and unavailable anywhere else, hence bids were going up rapidly. The atmosphere was really electric and exciting. The highest bid of the day was for the Dragon Green Sleeve weapon and the bid amount was a whopping 3.3 million A-Cash (approx. SGD $3500)! Unbelievable!
