AsiaSoft Online held a Sudden Attack media session this afternoon, inviting members of the press and online media to preview the upcoming first-person shooter to be released in Singapore and Malaysia. (FYI, it’s already a no. 1 hit in Korea’s cybergaming cafes!)
What’s a preview without some hands-on, and to make things interesting, a friendly match was organised with the Singapore Media team against the Malaysia Media team. In the Singapore team, we have journalists from Digital Life, FM 100.3, Omy, GameAxis, MyPaper, Playworks, VR Zone, Videogames.sg, @iKnow and more.
(Read on and find out who got pwned!)

For those who are familiar with the LAN FPS games (remember those Counter-Strike cafes in the early millennium?), today’s battle was a true demonstration of technology, because the Malaysia Media Team were actually physically at Kuala Lumpur while the Singapore team were at the @Club in Suntec City, Singapore. Yes, broadband is a godsend for gaming, bridging gaps all around the world.
Perhaps this is a sign of how future wars should or will be fought, that is via virtual weapons and avatars… so no one really gets hurt.
Still, perhaps a few egos were bruised as some guys became clumsy free-frags under the fierce heat of war.
There were 2 Singapore Media teams versus 2 Malaysia Media Teams. And a total of 3 maps were played:
- Warehouse (Team Death Match)
- Shark Tail (Team Death Match)
- 3rd Supply Base (Mission)
Seen in the Singapore camp, there were cheers, followed by gunfire, cries for help, laughter and groans in the intense firefight.
So, in the end, the burning question on everyone’s minds, who won?
*takes a deep breath, tears open the pink envelope… gasp!*
It’s a draw!
Singapore Media Team 1 won Malaysia Media Team 1
Malaysia Media Team 2 won Singapore Media Team 2
Bwahahaha, not satisfied with the results? Join in and play Sudden Attack! (Closed beta testing on 7th Jan 2009!)
